About me

I spent nine years as a strength coach, first with high school athletes in Orange and then at a training studio in West Orange where my clients slowly shifted older. By the time I went out on my own, most of the people I trained were between 65 and 90.

My approach is practical. If your goal is carrying the laundry up the stairs or getting off the floor after gardening, those are the movements we practice. I bring dumbbells from two to ten pounds, bands and a balance pad, and I keep a written log of every session so you can see your progress over time. We go at your speed, and I will always show you an easier version before a harder one.

Outside of work I coach a Saturday morning running group that starts at the Turtle Back Zoo parking lot. I am usually the one handing out bananas at the end.

What a first visit looks like

  1. 1

    Minute 0 to 10

We talk about daily tasks that feel harder than they used to and what you would like to get back to.

  2. 2

    Minute 10 to 20

A few simple checks: how you stand up from a chair, walk a short line, and reach overhead.

  3. 3

    Minute 20 to 30

A gentle warm-up with marching, arm circles and light band pulls.

  4. 4

    Minute 30 to 50

Your first strength circuit with light dumbbells and bands, built around your goals.

  5. 5

    Minute 50 to 60

Balance practice near a counter, then I start your session log and set the next date.
