About me

Biscuit is a seven-year-old golden retriever who has never met a lap he did not like. We were registered as a therapy dog team in 2021 after he passed his evaluation on the first try, which I am still a little proud of. Since then we have visited libraries, school reading programs and plenty of living rooms in Glen Ridge and Bloomfield.

Before that I worked as a line cook and then a sous chef at restaurants in Montclair for about fifteen years. So visits with me often turn into a little kitchen time too. Biscuit settles at your feet while we make something simple like a frittata or a pot of lentil soup, and I walk through each step slowly so you can make it again on your own.

Biscuit is brushed before every visit, up to date on his shots, and trained to stay calm around walkers and canes. He is famous on our block for sitting politely at the corner and waiting for the crossing guard to say hello.

What a first visit looks like

  1. 1

    Minute 0 to 10

Biscuit says hello on a leash while I show you the best way to greet and pet him.

  2. 2

    Minute 10 to 20

Relaxed time with Biscuit: brushing his coat, offering a treat and a short game of indoor fetch.

  3. 3

    Minute 20 to 50

Cook a simple dish together, such as a vegetable frittata, while Biscuit naps nearby.

  4. 4

    Minute 50 to 60

Share a taste, clean up together, and leave the recipe printed in large type.
