About me

I was a structural engineer in Newark for twenty-four years, and I still think about the body a bit like a building. Good posture is a strong frame, and strong hips and core keep everything else from working too hard. At fifty I traded my desk for a training certification and have worked with adults over sixty-five ever since.

My students tend to like that I explain the reason behind each movement. We start every session with ten minutes of slow tai chi warmups, which I learned from my father in our backyard in Livingston, then move into chair-based core work, wall push-ups and posture drills. Nothing is rushed. If a move does not feel right that day, we swap it for another.

Outside of sessions I am usually at Riker Hill Park with my camera or at my granddaughter's soccer games at the Livingston Oval. I speak Korean as well as English, which some families find helpful for a parent who is more comfortable in Korean.

What a first visit looks like

  1. 1

    Minute 0 to 10

Slow tai chi warmup to loosen shoulders, hips and ankles while we talk through your goals.

  2. 2

Posture check at the wall and a simple look at how you stand up and sit down.

  3. 3

    Minute 20 to 50

Chair-based core and strength work: seated twists, wall push-ups and leg presses with a band.

  4. 4

    Minute 50 to 60
