I grew up in Sofia, where chess was what kids did in the park after school, and I was a junior club champion before I was fifteen. I came to New Jersey for graduate school, stayed for a job in pharmaceutical research, and picked up bridge from my colleagues at lunch.
Now I am semi retired and live in Bernardsville. I drive in to the Essex towns a few days a week because I like the games and the people. Chess with me is a real game. I adjust how hard I play, and if you want to learn, we go over the opening and one idea to try next time. For bridge I teach standard American bidding with lots of practice hands, and I can be your fourth.
Because I come from farther out, homes 20 miles or more from Bernardsville have a small travel fee added. I am quiet at the board and chatty afterward, and I always bring an interesting puzzle for the week.
