I edited a food and travel magazine in Manhattan for twelve years. When my Teta turned ninety, my cousins and I realized nobody had written down how she got from Zahle to Paterson in 1958. I spent a winter recording her at her kitchen table, then turned it into a forty page book with her photos. We printed twenty copies, and every grandchild has one.
Now I do the same for other families. We meet at your table with photos, letters and anything else you have saved. I record each conversation on my phone so the grandkids have the audio, take notes, and ask follow up questions next time. After six to eight visits I write the stories up in your own words, lay them out with your photos, and send the file to a printer. You approve every page.
I live in Short Hills with my husband and our son. I speak English, Arabic and decent French, and I am a very good listener.
