About me

I have taught fitness classes since the aerobics days of the eighties, at the Millburn YMCA and a handful of clubs in between. As my students got older, so did I, and over time my work shifted toward strength and balance for people in their sixties, seventies and beyond.

At sixty four, I am not going to ask you to do anything I do not do myself. We work on posture, leg strength and steadiness on your feet, using light dumbbells, a band and the kitchen counter for support. I like to explain the why behind each move, so you know what it is doing for you when you practice alone. Most people notice stairs feel easier within a month.

I have lived in Short Hills for most of my adult life, and I am a regular in the audience at the Paper Mill Playhouse. I have seen their production of Annie four times, which my grandchildren find hilarious.

What a first visit looks like

    Minute 0 to 10

Chat about your activity level and anything that feels wobbly or tight.

  2. 2

    Minute 10 to 20

Check posture and balance using the kitchen counter for support.

  3. 3

    Minute 20 to 50

Learn a short routine with light weights for legs, back and arms.

  4. 4

    Minute 50 to 60

Practice safe ways to get up from the floor and from a low seat.

  5. 5

    Minute 60 to 65

Review the routine on paper and plan how often to practice.
